A voluntary
organisation run by and for its members, we are involved in a wide range
of historical interpretation activites and would be happy to talk with you
about your specific requirements.
Public historical displays are undertaken at various sites around the UK during the reenactment season and up to date details of these can be found here. If you are interested in talking to us about involvement in your event, please follow the appropriate link below and you will be contacted with details of availability and any costs involved. Whilst called the 'Hoplite' Association, the primary focus is upon all military activities between 490 BC and 430 BC within the Greek sphere of influence and as such we count amongst members a number of peltasts, ekdromoi, scythians and even an odd persian! There are also a wide range of civilian roles, from tradespeople to homemakers. Examples can be found here and an extensive portfolio of living history illustrations and guidance can be found on our sister site, www.4hoplites.com. Photographs of Association members have also featured in a number of publications, such as Armchair General and we are available for photoshoots, TV and film work. Both in the capacity as re-enactors and in advisory roles, including the training of extras and the manufacture and design of equipment. A number of members are available for school visits where classical studies can be brought to life with a combination of 'show-and-tell', presentations and demonstrations.
