Clivedon 2006Pictures and ReportWell, the main eventing season has again come to an end, but what a way to finish. Clivedon 2005, despite the rain, was an excellent event for reenactors and Clivedon 2006 was no dissappointment. Indeed, it was reminiscent of the old days of the big events of Kirby Hall. But is was not just the reenactors who enjoyed themselves. Helped no doubt by the weather, both days were so popular with visitors that the gates and public car park had to be closed for a period on both afternoons as they were at capacity. Indeed, it was rumoured that some visitors just parked on the main road and made their way in through the trees and over the fences!!! For the Association we had what was, perhaps, our best arena show to date and this bodes very well for further development in 2007. Once again Amy catered for all on both days and once again we gorged ourselves on the excellent spread. We also had very, very many visitors and managed, mainly to the hard work of Ash, but ably supported by both Paul and Steve, to 'train' over 100 youngsters in the 'mini-drill' on both days. The patience of saints, all 3 of them! Our living history display continues to draw plenty of attention and looking at what we had this weekend to what we were doing just 12 months ago, we are starting to move forward in leaps and bounds. Again, 2007 should see major developments in this area as well. As we now move into 'winter quarters' we pass into a time of reflection and planning. All members will now be looking back on what we have achieved and thinking forward to where we go next. 2007 should see more changes, but quite where?... well watch this space.

.. and for everyone who managed to keep down the feast a special message from the chef...
...and finally, well it is hard to get on the property ladder nowadays, but for one young couple, Clivedon saw them finally complete on their new home. The conveniences are close by (as you can see) and the neighbours change quite regularly but they were assured by the vendors that whenever it does not rain, the roof will never let in water!!
