Leighton Buzzard- October 2009 Training Weekend
Our second training event at Leighton Buzzard went well, despite the poor attendance. It was great to meet and include two of our new members, Jackie and Matt, who met us at Odyssey. It was an opportunity for them to explore the different roles and see what we get up to. Jackie is leaning towards an achery role and proved to be a dab hand with a bow - she manged to successfully kill a plastic football placed on top of a hay bale ten yards away at least twice. Matt is perhaps leaning towards Thracian heavy infantry, having had some difficulty getting the whole Greek Hoplite concept quite right - we had to explain that Ash's mediaeval armour was slightly too late for our period. Ash's sail was painted on the reverse side and the newly completed wagon was 'road' tested around the field, so all-in-all a good weekend.
