Military Odyssey 2005

Event Report

Bank Holiday weekends always mean a lot of demand for re-enactment groups; and this one was no different. Despite a commitment to the Sheffield Fair, however, the Association has been at Military Odyssey each year of its existence and we were determined to have an unbroken record. It is not only fun to attend, for us, but we have made a lot of friends with visitors over the years that return over and over again to see us.

This year, therefore, we decided that despite our commitment to Sheffield we would not dissappoint all our friends in the south of England and a gallant little band of four made the 5-6 hour trip down to Detling.

We became TV stars (our 15 seconds of fame!), and all lost our voices by the end of three solid days talking to the (very) many people who visited our camp and showed so much interest in what we do.

This page, therefore, is for you, and you know who you are. Sadly we cannot remember very many names but I am sure you will forgive us for that - but to the little boy (Alfie) who returned a second day, after spending all night thinking of more questions to ask, to the gentleman who came simply because he saw two of us on the evening news 'fighting it out' and to the charming young lady, below (Katherine), who spent a lot of time with us on Saturday on her third visit to mention but a few THANK YOU. For your support, enthusiasm AND for helping us win the cup for the group with the BEST PUBLIC INTERACTION. We had a wonderful weekend and it was all thanks to you.

Home for 3 nights!

Katherine (again!) with brother Gregory... reenactors in the making!!!!!

Now there is a long story behind this next one, that concerns a danish mother in law and a big hat... but we swore not to repeat it!
